I was surprised to find an
article about Francisco Studios and Open Studios by
Ryan Kost of the SFChronicle with a photo of my studio and a name mention.
Just about every Open Studios visitor commented on the light in the studio. It has been Instagrammed by many but most notably by
Victoria Smith of
sfgirlbybay.com.
Speaking of celebrity name dropping,
Paul Madonna of "
All Over Coffee" fame visited with his wife,
Joen Madonna, executive director of ArtSpan. Paul is a master draughtsperson and his latest series "The Eviction Series" is particularly poignant and personal. Joen and her team have made significant strides in getting ArtSpan artists' work out in public venues like restaurants, coffee shops, and other businesses. They stress the importance of hanging the work in a respectful (clean walls) way. I think every artist who has been involved with getting their work out there has come face to face with difficult conditions like dirty walls or less than ideal hanging issues. So, thank you ArtSpan!
Currently, my work from the "Edges " series is hanging in Philz Coffee, Noe Valley. I stopped by this morning for my weekly "small ether, medium cream" and saw that the work still hung straight.
