V. S. Gaitonde

Wishing I was in....
New York City, at the Guggenheim Museum to see the retrospective of the painter V.S. Gaitonde.
His work has a calligraphic quality within an atmosphere of color.

And then, there are works that appear figurative and landscape-like.

Other works are whimsical...

and others are substantial, heavy, geometric.  Whatever the style, these paintings need to be seen in person.
It is refreshing to see  the Guggenheim  paying attention to lesser known artists - artists whose work will inspire others and whose work should be known.   And, enough of the ridiculous auction prices for paintings ($300 million for a Gauguin!).  Phooey!
