Detroit Institute of Art
Poor Detroit! The creditors are eyeing the incredible art collection at the Detroit Institute of Art. When I read this in the NY Times, I thought, I better think seriously about visiting the museum before the superstar pieces become part of a private collection.
What if we were never to have access to these paintings again?
There were many many paintings that I would like to see - I just posted a few from the DIA website. The collection is amazing with a little bit of everything. I would like to see the American art collection - they have some iconic pieces like Whistler's Nocturne in Black and Gold

And I would love to visit the General Motors Center for African American Art featuring the work of artists I know nothing about (except for Romare Bearden and Henry Ossawa Tanner). I crave different perspectives.
