Iceland Day 7

Going  eastward along the southern coast towards the fjords

A stop at a quaint fishing village Djupivogur
where we had a wonderful lunch.  I do not like the taste of lamb but it is the locally grown food so I had to try some.  The Icelandic lamb tastes different from any other lamb I've eaten - very delicious!
This is the smoked lamb platter.

Another waterfall which shall be unnamed

where we were able to hike above it to explore a bit.

We started a ritual of having a cup of coffee around 3 pm with the "cake of the day".  We stopped in a small coastal town after driving around the "fingers" of the fjords.  Magnificient views, difficult to capture on my little old IPhone...

but not too difficult to capture the hominess of this little restaurant.  We walked the length of the town which took about 2 minutes but managed to buy some woolen items from the local shop.

Our next accomodations, Gistiheimilio Eyvindara also had construction during the day (but since the days are long, the work went on well past 8 pm).  The highlight of this guesthouse was the horses just outside next to the parking lot.

We didn't find that much to do in Egilsstathir but we needed to get out and do something physical after dinner.  We went for a little walk just outside of town.

The clouds lifted and the bright sun shone at 10 pm!
