Perfect Day - Rembrandt, Food, & More Art

After visiting the Rembrandt exhibition, we took a stroll around the premises.  It is quite beautiful around the museum and Case Western Reserve University.

The original part of the Cleveland Museum of Art.
And the newer, more modern part of the museum.

A walk around the campus yielded this interesting building.

And to end this perfect day, we dined at l'Albatross, a few minutes walk from the museum.  We sat outside and enjoyed cocktails, a fabulous meal, great service and ended it with this amazing cheese plate.

But, that wasn't the end of this perfect day....

Our accomodations, Cleveland Clinic Guesthouse which was chosen because it was within walking distance to the museum, is also next door to the Cleveland Clinic.  After our rather large meal, we needed to walk off some of that extra poundage so we thought we would explore the buildings that make up the Cleveland Clinic.  It is a huge complex which seemed pretty empty perhaps because we were there on Memorial Day weekend.  What surprised me was that there was art just about everywhere.

We came across  the exhibition titled "In my Room" seen below.

The work is part of the Cleveland Clinic Art Collection as well as works on loan from regional and local artists.  But as we meandered through the hallways, we saw some amazing pieces.  Like this Alexander Calder in the parking structure lobby.

And this changing colors hallway...

and it seemed every little bit of hallway would have a piece of art.

How wonderful that some hospital muckamuck decided that it was important to have art.  The collection has over 4500 works of fine art and they continue to acquire new pieces.  Read more about the Cleveland Clinic Art Program here.
