Every so often, I am struck by the beauty of photographs taken during difficult times. This is an example by Uriel Sinai of schoolgirls in Israel taking cover during a rocket attack. It reminds me of a classically
posed painting and the whole composition is engaging. I saw the photo in the
NY Times and was in black and white which I prefer. The composition reminds me of Courbet's "Burial at Ornans" with figures placed in a rhythm and the bit of white bringing the eye across the canvas.
