Lucien Freud 2005

This photograph which was published last Saturday in the New York Times Arts section took my breath away. This is one of those rare examples where a photograph looks like a painting. It could have been done by Diego Velasquez (Adoration of the Magi) or by Caravaggio as in the Supper at Emmaus...
The photograph has so much life and detail. I could easily envision each highlight as a brushstroke. It is what one may call a "painterly" photo.
