Call for Art - Juried Show


JURIED SHOW 2011
The World Affairs Council of Northern California exhibition space is open during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM in a central location near Union Square. The audience for the exhibits includes street traffic, event attendees (approximately 2,000 per month), community leaders and Trustees of the World Affairs Council. Additionally, with each art exhibition the World Affairs Council offers an opening reception to its more than 20k community members.

The World Affairs Council is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization that offers a forum where leaders of all sectors join members of the public to engage in issues of international importance. Policymakers, business executives, philanthropists, academics, students, civic leaders and an attentive public join in the Council’s programs to listen, learn, discuss and debate – deepening understanding of global affairs. World Affairs Council art exhibits provide an opportunity to visually represent international issues and world affairs. The World Affairs Council is celebrating its 16th anniversary of hosting artists involved in global affairs and 2nd annual juried art show.

Open to artists working with photography, all two dimensional work. The subject matter of the art must be international or related to global challenges that we face, such as the environment and climate change, development and poverty, security, and human rights. Include a small description (100 word max) for each submission on how the work relates to the theme of global issues and world affairs. Framed work should not exceed 24”x36” and must weigh less than 25lbs.

Submission Deadline: Friday, April 8, 5:00 PM
Accepted artists notified: Monday, April 25
Hand deliver framed work with wire and hooks: Tuesday, May 31 or Wednesday, June 1, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Pick-up work: TBD

JURORS
Corden Potts Gallery owners Elizabeth Corden and Jan Potts plus a World Affairs Council staff member.

ENTRY FEE
Artist may submit up to 5 pieces of artwork. The nonrefundable fee for 3 submissions is $10, and an additional $10 for each work submitted after that. All major credit cards accepted or please make checks payable to the World Affairs Council of Northern California. If submitting credit card payment, please email or call in the details.
