Studio methods - gamsol and two can system
I use gamsol to wash my brushes and the system i used i learned from the painter, John Zurier. This photo shows what a pretty dirty can of used gamsol looks like. At this point, i need to filter it out to harvest to clean gamsol. But, i need to start a new can.
Start off with a large can and a small can.
Take the small can and nail holes through the bottom with the rough edges pointed towards the outside of the can. This will help clean the bristles of the brushes.
Place the small can into the big can with the rough edges (or bottom of small can)
facing up.
Add gamsol and you are ready to use. Have two cans - one for rinsing off the darks paints and the other for lighter paints. I use the cutoff with yellows and any colors with white added to it for the light paint gamsol can.
And finally, you can filter out the dregs from the dirty gamsol using a paper towel first and then a coffee filter. The gamsol comes out clear.
