fluorescent pigment test

I saw fluorescent pigments at Sinopia a while ago and thought i would play with them. The store person warned me that they are fugitive that is, the colors will fade pretty quickly. The pigments sat around the studio for a while before i decided to mix up the pigments with my wax medium. I wanted to confirm that the pigments would indeed fade away so i took some wood planks, brushed on the various fluorescent waxy paints, covered half of the paint with paper and then exposed the planks to direct sunlight as shown.

This is what they looked like before removing the paper cover. Note the dates, April 2009 for the yellow and November 2009 for the reds.

And the result = the yellow faded but that was with direct sunlight, everyday, since April 2009. There was no difference with the reds. Perhaps reds don't fade as much as the yellow. It would have been interesting to test the store bought cadmiums and alizarin crimson as well. Could the wax medium have some sort of protective function?
