Just returned from a backpacking trip in Desolation Wilderness where we camped at Ropey Lake. I wish i had packed some paper and a pencil just to draw some of the amazing trees. They survive some harsh conditions at 8,000 feet and certainly look weathered, tough, with amazing designs on the bark. The shape of the trees was also stark with just enough branches and leaves to survive.
