Blue Planet Reception

Images from last Saturday's reception for the Blue Planet exhibition held at SOMArts. I was impressed with the quality of the work. Curated by Kim Abeles, she created a fantastic show with a good mix of paintings, mixed media, sculpture, and installations. The show was organized by the Women's Caucus for Art Pacific Coast region. The members are an enthusiastic bunch and i am compelled to join.




To be honest, i thought my chair, although a nice piece on it's own wasn't really that good. It seemed too quiet and conceptually, a little weak. I equated the preciousness of water with the fleeting time that is childhood. It requires the viewer to look closely at the the way it was painted in order to appreciate it, perhaps that is asking too much. I am grateful to have been chosen!
