Suzy Barnard at Coco500
I attended the opening reception at Coco500 to see the work of Suzy Barnard. Her "Ships at Bay" series were beautiful and i imagine the work was inspired by the location of her studio at Pier 70. I have always loved to see container ships full of their colorful rectangular masses and she captures them with amazing colors amidst a backdrop of the palette knife painted sea. Curated by Bonnie Earls-Solari, with whom i worked at 455 Market, the pieces looked serene in the restaurant.
I took a few photos without a flash in the restaurant so the colors are dark but you get the idea of the placement of the pieces.
You never know how a painting will work in a restaurant but i trust Bonnie to put them in the best possible situation. A little about Coco500 - i haven't been out to a nice restaurant in ages so this was a great re-introduction to that experience. The food was great, the service wonderful and i need to sell more paintings to come back here again.
