Portrait study continues

Starting with this image, i began a portrait of my nephew and son.









But, i wasn't too happy with how this was looking. I think it was missing the simplicity and sculptural beauty of the original and it really wasn't a direction i wanted to go.











After looking at several books for inspiration, i was taken by the paintings by Mary Cassatt and this is now the final result.

I preferred the freedom of using these colors which i think come up often in my paintings.
