I've been an admirer of Temple Grandin and her work with animals since i first read about her in the New York Times a few years ago. In her TED talk, she emphasizes the importance of mentoring children and i would like to take this opportunity to plug the Spark program in San Francisco and the Peninsula. Be a mentor for an at-risk 7th or 8th grader in your community with a once a week, 6 week committment, one-on-one mentorship that will undoubtedly enrich your life as well as the student's.
