Hosfelt and Braunstein/Quay Galleries

I went to see the work of Arngunnur Yr at Hosfelt Gallery this week and was impressed with her landscape paintings. I thought i was putting down many layers of paint but she adds 100 - 200 layers - no wonder her work shows an amazing luminosity. The work was displayed in a very respectful and elegant way - giving each painting the space it needed, the breathing room that is important for complex works. Also showing was the work of Nelleke Beltjens - unbelievable control and attention to detail. A very exciting artist.


Braunstein/Quay Gallery is next door and is showing the work of Tom Bolles. I couldn't believe how lucky i was to catch two shows that are relevant to my work.
