Art Opening W Hotel
I went to an art opening to see the work of Kim Thoman at the W Hotel in San Francisco. The art exhibit was organized by Matt McKinley of McKinley Art Solutions and i have had the pleasure of working with Matt in shows. The venue is ok for showing art, and i say ok because the lighting isn't the best. But having said that, I am thinking of my own work and how lighting is very necessary for accessing the subtle colors in the paintings. So what if the lighting isn't perfect - the work still looked very nice in the space. As usual, Matt organizes nice things to drink and has Charles the astrologer as a side bit of entertainment.
I met someone very interesting at this reception, documentary film maker Karil Daniels. She had postcards with info on 2 of her films, "Waterbaby: Experiences of Waterbirth" and"Voices of Dissent". "Voices of Dissent" is an award-winning documentary about American patriotism and protecting the Constitution and Bill of Rights, especially First Amendment rights to Freedom of Speech and Peaceful Assembly. And "Waterbaby", which was honored at 14 film festivals, highlights the newest innovation in safe, gentle, joyous childbirth. You can check out trailers at the above links.
