Gearing up for the next "No Reception" reception, i am in the process of making original postcard paintings to give away to attendees. Since there will be no food or drink at this reception, i thought i would feed the soul instead of the stomach by giving away a piece of art. I am using all the leftover postcards from my show in Chicago. I gave away quite a few at the last "No Reception".
Just to make things interesting,i made up a gesso using rabbit skin glue, marble dust, and titanium white pigment - it was a beautiful white that had a creamy quality. I used this to gesso the postcards. I also made a starch paste so i could glue a clean white back to each of the postcards. I got the recipe from "Formulas for Painters". It's a great book!
By the way, the next "No Reception" reception will be August 15, 2009, 1 - 2 pm.
