Day 4 Washington DC
The Hirshhorn, National Air and Space Musuem, Freer and Sackler Gallery
The Hirshhorn had a magnificent sculpture gallery across the street from their art museum that was surrounded by an exquisite garden. One of my favorite was a Yoko Ono Wish Tree where we were invited to write a wish and tie it to the tree.
And in the musuem - Strange Bodies: Figurative Works from the Hirshhorn Collection
And then we went next door to the National Air and Space Museum which i am not really into but had to go. It was crowded as expected. We did something really silly and rode on one those "simulator" rides. Not worth it.
Freer and Sackler Gallery - beautiful collections also part of the Smithsonian
Surface Beauty exhibit - i fell in love with these paintings and felt very inspired.
We also saw the "Tale of Shoten Doji" exhibit - alas, no photos but saw beautiful Japanese screens.
With some time and left and a little bit of energy left in our bodies, we went back to the National Portrait Gallery/ Musuem of American Art to take in the rest of the permanent collection. I was glad we came back because i saw the most amazing Joan Mitchell.

More about two great exhibits at the Musuem of American Art in a later posting.
