Women's Building Naming Ribbons

The weather is milder now in San Francisco. The rains have felt tropical and it is a good time to go on a walking tour of the murals in the Mission. Check out the tours offered by Precita Eyes. And speaking of murals, the fabulous Women's Building hosts one of the most beautiful murals in the city and in addition, is a wonderful community resource for the community. Ever think of honoring that special woman in your life? Here's one idea - your mom, you or any special woman can be part of history when you add their name to the world-renown MaestraPeace! Naming Ribbons weave through MaestraPeace honoring women from all walks of life. Now, the original muralists will bring these ribbons through our front door, twine them over the entry and up the stairs.
$150 Places a Name Inside the Building
$200 Places a Name Outside the Building
(Over the Front Door)
I am planning on honoring my mother Sawako Kodama who passed away in 2005 and her mother, Asa Neda. It seemed appropriate in that they were both first generation immigrants and many programs at the Women's Building help immigrants with job assistance, legal services, a food pantry, access to computers, and more. I am sure my mom and grandmother would feel good about helping this vital organization.

What a lovely way to honor your mother and grandmother. I wish I were closer so that I could see the piece.
