Nihonga Painting Intensive
When i was in Chicago for the art fair last April, i met an artist who said that my work looked much like nihonga art. Since then i have been interested in this technique of using pure pigments. The artist, Judith Kruger will be teaching an intensive course in nihonga painting in Chicago.
I will be going.
NIHONGA: THEN AND NOW
3 Day Intensive
JAPANESE PAINTING WORKSHOP
with Judith Kruger in Chicago
Friday, Saturday, Sunday-May 29, 30, 31
10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Join us in Chicago for a rare opportunity to learn Nihonga in an intensive 3 day workshop with Judith Kruger, contemporary American nihonga painter. This workshop introduces students to the ancient Asian art form of Nihonga, Japanese mineral pigment painting. Basic traditional techniques, materials, processes and aesthetic, which have been used on folding screens and scrolls for thousands of years are covered. Students are encouraged to experiment with the medium, adding their own aesthetic and voice in order to create new expression for this historical, yet highly process-driven and often meditative medium.
The fee is $750.00 per person, including a $100.00 materials fee, which covers all necessary imported materials from Japan, as a basic kit.
Email us at judy@judithkruger.com to register or for more information.
Minimum 4 - maximum 10; will be handled on a first come first serve basis.
