Our New President
Happy Inauguration Day!
I was feeling ever so proud to see our two girls from San Francisco, Nancy Pelosi and Dianne Feinstein flanking our new president. Way to go girls! I did what i could to scribble notes, drawings during the event but hard to draw when one is so moved by what was happening. A few observations...Barack Obama is lefthanded. I was moved by the words "fierce urgency of now", "patchwork heritage", "collective involvement" and " we will restore science to its rightful place ... harness the sun and the winds and the soil to fuel our cars and run our factories."
Oh heck, just go to the complete text of his speech here.
And i adored the benediction by the Rev Joseph Lowery who brought some levity to this serious day. The new White House website here.
Obama is one of the most photogenic people i've seen as evidenced in this video.
I delivered 4 paintings for a juried show called "Serenity" at the UCSF Center for Reproductive Health, the 3rd and 7th floors(2356 Sutter St, X Divisadero). Curated and organized by Matt McKinley of McKinley Art Solutions. The opening reception will be on Feb 17, 2009. These are the paintings....
