Art in Sacramento
While in Sacramento, i stopped by the gallery of Merle Axelrad Serlin who creates "paintings" using fabric and then machine stitches the layers. The work looks very painstaking and she had works in progress so you could see her process. There is a lot of detail and attention to patterns and colors that make her pieces intriguing. It seems hard to believe that these images below are made up of small pieces of fabric.
And then it was off to the Crocker Art Musuem - a free day for B of A members. The special exhibit was the art of Warner Brothers cartoons - not something i was very interested in. Their permanent collection was ok but i was very impressed that they had 2 Brueghels, one Jan and the other Pieter. The art is housed in this very beautiful building and new construction which is going on now will expand the museum.
