10 Art Books of 2008

I subscribe to the About.com's painting blog. For the most part, it doesn't add much to my practice or inspire me but this time Marion Brody-Evans listed some of her top suggestions for art books which i found to be useful. I've ordered a few on the list.
One of the reasons i am not so crazy about this site is that it is visually busy with sponsored ads.

Glad you enjoyed the list! I'm curious to know which you decided to buy...

The adverts are an inevitability and without them the site wouldn't exist. They pay for the site servers and for my time writing it. A flash blocker addon goes a long way to stop the animated or video ads (and not just on About.com).
Hi Marion!
I ordered "Color and Meaning" and "Artists and their Studios". I will probably order a couple more but i need to wait for my wallet to heal from Xmas.
And yes, i know that ads are necessary - i just don't like how they are displayed on About.com. I thank you for your comments!
John Gage has another fabulous book -- Colour and Culture -- which I also enjoy thoroughly. It's not cheap, but it's coffee-table sized and 336 pages. Definitely one worth saving up for I think if you enjoy color and art/cultural history. It's like a series of essays on different aspects, so doesn't have to be read straight through.
You are killing me! Another one to ad to my Amazon wishlist. Thanks Marion!
