Gyo Hayakawa and Makoto Fujimura
Since i am interested in nihonga painting, i am always on the look out for artists that i find inspiring who use this technique. I found Gyo Hayakawa - his recent work being the most interesting for me.
I also came across another nihonga painting by accident when i read the news about George W. Bush's latest appointment that cannot be changed with the new administration. Lame duck President Bush has just appointed Lee Greenwood, the country western music star best known for writing and performing "God Bless the U.S.A." to the National Endowment for the Arts Council to serve a six-year term. The 14-member NEA council advises the chairman, and reviews and makes recommendations on grant applications to the $145-million a year agency. Greenwood is the only member of the council whose tenure won't be up during Obama's first-term, making the musician a permanent fixture in Washington D.C. for the next six years. He will be serving alongside nihonga painter Makota Fujimura. His work is also enchanting and he proves to be an erudite blogger as well. His Christian beliefs seem to inform his work.
