June 20, 2008
7 pm to midnight, doors open at 6pm
Kearny Street Workshop (KSW) is the oldest multidisciplinary Asian Pacific American arts organization in the country. Offering classes and workshops, salons and student presentations, as well as professionally curated and produced exhibitions, performances, readings and screenings, KSW makes artists out of community members and community members out of artists.
KSW is located at 17th and Capp, a great area for the arts with The Lab and Root Division close by.
I received a call not for artists but for Asian Americans to become bone marrow/stem cell donors. There aren't many on the registry and to increase the chances for a person of Asian ancestry to find a match, they need more Asian Americans. I have been on the registry for over 10 years and was called up recently for more tests because i was a potential match. It turns out that a family member came forward and i hope the recepient is doing well. So at the risk of being politically incorrect "calling out to all Buddha heads to become a bone marrow/stem cell donor!"
