pigments plus wax medium
When i was in Chicago, i saw work by another artist who used pure pigments in her paintings. I loved the intensity of the color but was distracted by the reflections in the glass that was necessary to protect the piece and to protect people from raw pigments. I thought i could experiment using pure pigments to mix with my beeswax mixture so that's what i played with today. The colors are intense. I mixed ultramarine blue, hansa yellow, cadmium yellow, ultramarine violet, and titanium white. They mixed beautifully with the was medium and i made a mixture on to board. It is an expensive way to paint but the colors are amazing. Traditional brushes don't work well because the mixture is very thick so i used a palette knive.
