Shaun Leornardo as a lucha libre star.
After finishing the final painting for Chicago, i spent the day in the studio catching up on office work, correspondence, reading, cleaning up, redistributing stacks of stuff and i came across the Feb 2008 issue of ArtNews. I was pleased to see an old classmate from a Brett Cook-Dizney painting class at the San Francisco Art Institute, Shaun Leonardo featured in ArtTalk. I remember his video piece where he was wrestling against himself, in his Mexican wrestler garb. He made coloring book style masks for each of us to color in - i think i still have mine somewhere. I remember him to be a very sincere and nice person. In fact, the class was particularly enjoyable thanks to the environment created by Brett, a gifted instructor and a wonderful role model. You don't have to be a self absorbed ass to be in art.
