scamming artists

An update on the continuing saga of the "buyer" from Irving Sandler's Artist on File - there is a link on the site to "art scams" and it says that the person who has been emailing me and sent me a check to cover the cost of a painting and shipping is a scam artist. The check looks real - but the whole thing was weird from the beginning. Many odd things - the way the email was written, not answering my questions, not following up with calling me, and then sending me a check from England, no return address and no instructions. If it is too good to be true, then it is!
The other person who contacted me also sounds quite dubious. Irving Sandler seems to attract scammers - preying on desparate artists wanting recognition and a little money!
