Turner Prize

The Turner Prize went to Mark Wallinger http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7124575.stm for his work in recreating Brian Haw's protest in Parliament Square in 2001. "Every detail was copied from his tarpaulin shelter and tea-making area to the messages of support and hand-painted placards. " I wonder if and how he will acknowledge Brian Haw's protest either monetarily or otherwise.
I think it is an interesting piece of conceptual art but i rather prefer the work of Thomas Demand when it comes to recreating scenes. http://www.thomasdemand.de/

Anyway, back in my studio, the day's progression....

at the end of the day....i am having a lot of fun pushing the colors around.

There is an art cafe in the Excelsior neighborhood called Mama Art Cafe http://www.mamasf.com/art.htm that features local artists. There is an opening i will be checking out this Saturday from 5 to 8. The cafe not only supports local visual artists but offers tango performances and there is free wireless Internet.
