Printz Dance Project

I went with Dana to see the Printz Dance Project mainly because one of my favorite Rhythm and Motion instructors, Dudley Flores http://www.dflores415.blogspot.com/(2nd in from the right) was dancing. He had a major role in last night's performance and he's really come a long way since the first time i saw him dance a few years ago. Yesterday was one of those beautiful days...I went to a dance class in the morning, hooked up with Dana and had lunch at a great hole in the wall called Young's BBQ on 17th street and Valencia, had good news on the remodeling project at home, went to the studio to paint and then met up with Dana to go to Cowell Theater to see PDP. Regarding the performance...there were a couple of pieces that were stand outs for me: "Duality", "Sketches", "Being Y", and of course, "My Story" Dudley's solo piece. One of the pieces "Traces" looked like it could have been an Olafur Eliasson installation with the powder (was it flour?) floating about. The forms the dancers make individually and en masse really captivate my visual senses.

And on a weird note - an "artist" implants an ear on his arm begs the age old question, "is it art?"http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/technology/technology.html?in_article_id=487039&in_page_id=1965

and in the "Imaging me rolling my eyes" department, an "artist" creates paintings based on your own unique DNA sequence http://www.dna-art.com/?gclid=COHYoeLhiY8CFQJWgQodECfmtw. I would rather have my original sequence than something interpreted by her but it's a gimmick that is probably selling well.
