Open Studios Weekend 3 Saturday
I got out this weekend to open studios - it is always great fun to see the working conditions, talk to the artist, and of course, look at the art. On Saturday, i started in my neighborhood of Noe Valley and made my way to see the photographs of Richard Tauber http://www.tauberphotography.com/ who takes incredibly detailed digital photos with intense colors. He works as a commercial photographer (hence the super nice equipment) and decided to photograph for the love of creating art.
The next stop was to visit one of my Rhythm & Motion fellow dancers, Soad Kader http://www.studiosoad.com/. I was intrigued with her "Veil" series which you can see is a beautiful abstraction of a figure in a veil.
Other stops included Edward Enriquez whose family painting in the OS guide was so humorous that i wanted to see the painting in person. http://www.artenriquez.com/.
Joe Illick - printmaker with a series of American presidents as well as local scenes.
Arthur Newmark, nice paintings but very only a few were shown.
David Crook, printmaker and astrologer - very interesting discussion on why George Bush is the way he is, astrologically speaking. http://www.stellarinsights108.com/ He also showed bold silkscreened images.
