ArtSpan, Lisa Ryers' reception

Here is my painting in situ at SomArts. The reception seemed to be well attended by many art lovers. There were people taking notes and some taking photos of the work. But i think mostly, the people in attendance were the artists, like myself. My painting did not seem to generate any interest, which i expected.

On the more positive side, i went to Lisa Ryers' reception at Thinker's Cafe on 20th Street between Connecticutt and Arkansas in Potrero Hill. Although you can see she is pretty cute, she is much cuter when her eyes are open! She was in the Grand Tetons in Wyoming taking a photography seminar with a National Geographic photographer. She showed 6 photographs, each with a different flavor: abstracted, moody, picturesque. And, she had some very yummy food there.

What was kind of a coincidence was a friend of Lisa's arrived and she was someone i recognized from Francisco Studios. She is someone i would see in the hallway and just assumed she was an artist because she was there in the daytime. It turns out she teaches drumming to Lisa, and her name is Dawn Richardson and you can reach her at dirdrums@yahoo.com if you want to take lessons!
She is here with another photographer whose name escapes me...Dawn is on the right. If you know who that is, let me know and i can acknowledge this lovely person.

And at the end of Friday, my painting which is more than half way done, will rest up and dry over the weekend.
