Chair and Trees
More on the rocking chair. And a few more trees....
I am amazed at how tiring it is to do these small trees compared to my large pieces in part because i have to make many decisions regarding color. The large pieces are difficult for my wrists and i suffer from repetitive stress but there are much fewer decisions to be made in the process. I love doing the trees but it can be a struggle to find that "right" color.
I forgot to mention that i am getting the komoboko planks from Tokyo Teriyaki, http://www.tokyoteriyaki.com/a fantastic Japanese restaurant in Daly City, across from Westlake Shopping Mall. The SF Chronicle did a nice article about the restaurant http://www.sfchroniclemarketplace.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/08/26/PK92RJVIB.DTL. My family has been going there for years. My father has been friends with Mr. Suzuki, the chef for a long time and has been retrieving the cedar planks for me.
