what i want to accomplish

Almost finished with the 4 panels and i need to think about the next painting. Today, i thought about painting and what i want to accomplish.
1. be visually impressive
2. paintings must be economical, decisive, unyielding
3. honor the old masters and by old masters i mean everyone who came before me.
4. create a sense of touch, place, handling, color, texture, composition, arrangement, layout
5. have no meaning or reference
6. avoid the "design" look
7. challenge the preconceptions
