A Welcome Interruption

Helen Chellin surprised me with a visit this morning, a short but sweet diversion from painting. We will be meeting up tomorrow to do gallery visits downtown. Helen is the director of Red Cinder, an artist residency program on the Big Island of Hawaii http://www.red-cinder.com/HomePage.html and that's how i met her. We've been friends ever since. She is also a painter who has an strong affinity for volcanoes, ice, and science.

I lost my way this afternoon with the painting, where the effect was too "blue". It was remedied later by the addition of permanent light green and indian yellow. Phew!
