Just a quick note to advertise SCRAP, Scroungers' Center for Reusuable Art Parts, a great resource for teachers, artists, and everybody else. http://www.scrap-sf.org/. It is a warehouse filled with stuff companies or organizations don't want anymore. So there are alot of paper products, office stuff, fabric, sewing notions, and odds and ends metal and wood bits and so much more. Open Tuesday througnh Saturday, 9 am - 5 pm, 801 Toland St, entrace on Newcomb.
I was there this morning to look for little pieces of wood to paint on and came across a double boiler that i will use to melt beeswax, a couple of glass containers, and oil paints which look old but are probably very usable. I try to visit every few weeks to see what sort of goodies i can use for art, or to get inspired by the materials.
