Gray painting

Progress continues with gray painting and at the end of Friday...

I am mezmerized by the color of ultramarine blue plus titanium white - it looks purple sometimes and pink other times depending on what's next to it.

Friday night i went to see Carino, part 1 at Dance Mission Theatre. I met Dana and her mom and dad there mainly to see one of our favorite dance instructors work and dance, Amara Tabor-Smith. I was blown away by the amazing singer MamaCoAtl who belted out songs with such passion that when i got home, i googled her to see where her next performances are and if she had a CD out. I was pleasantly surprised by the work of Anne Bluethenthal because one never knows when there is a strong political message regarding dance if there is actually going to be dance involved but there was and beautifully done. And of course, Amara's work was powerful (sorry about the overused descriptor) and it was a wonderful night of dance and music.

On Saturday morning, i visited Helen at her studio and looked at her recent altered books project and the amazing collection of plastic garbage she and another artist gathered in Hawaii. The plastic took on all sorts of appearances; some looked like bone or coral, others looked like lava and many were quite beautiful.
